Expect the unexpected. That’s the best advice for someone attending an Available Jelly concert. Through the years, the line-up and the repertoire have changed many times. But there’s one thing that you can be sure of: there’ll be plenty of strong melodies. The music can be wild, dense, smooth, empty, swinging or poin tillistic, but it’s always interesting.
Available Jelly is a 5-piece group featuring some of the Netherlands’ top improvisers. It’s a pocket brass band that ingeniously blends written material and free improvisation in a warm and natural way. They play originals, and an eclectic mix of jazz, world music (from Balkans to Madagascar) and popular songs (Kurt Weill, Burt Bacharach), cleverly arranged by Michael Moore and with plenty of room for improvisation and interpretation.
