Bardsongs movie trailer
Dutch production Bardsongs by Sander Francken has received the Signis Award, as announced on the Filmfest website.
This year's Filmfest DC is their 25th anniversary. It took place at April 7-17, 2011 in Washington, DC.
"He's a legend, and he's just underexposed in the U.S" (TenduTV, Marc Kirschner in The Wall Street Journal NY)
The festival video (...) served as a crash course in Van Manen. The four dances on the video show crisp yet fluid and smooth movement, often with hints of modern dance. Men are more than accessories in his ballets; they've got real presence.
And because the performances are by companies that don't tour the states frequently, it was a chance to see unfamiliar dancers. If you've never seen the ballet dancer Lucia Lacarra, this video is worth the $3.99 rental just to watch her in "Five Tangos," a ballet set to tango music by Astor Piazzaolla.
